I created this using Procreate, this is a screen video of the whole process (speeded up). This is an 'off the top of my head' design. You can see the through processes as I move through the creative journey
I absolutely love mixed media and using acrylic paints as much as I enjoy watercolour paints. This piece is directly inspired by my many visits to Egypt - or known by its ancient name Kemet.
I paint with feeling and from the heart, even my soul. The colour palette is informed by the heat, the light and atmosphere of the location within which the photo was taken.
All of this is imprinted as a permenant memory within my own sensory systems. It takes little effort to recall the smells, heat, visual, and kinesthetic experiences of past visits - it's as if I am there.
There challenge is transferring those memories into my art.
Even while working at my desk, there is always something around me worth photographing. I caught this grey squirrel performing acrobats outside my window. I took several photo's of this very busy creature, some of which I have used to create a range of drawings using Procreate. This will most definitely be included in a surface pattern design!
I have enormous amount of my own photography to inspire me and to act as reference photos for my projects.
